I have the house to acknowledge receipt of your letter, No 44d, of the gt Instant, reporting for the information of His Excellency the Governor, that the Government Cool sheds had, on the previous day, been fired by some ill-disposed Chinamen.; also that a similar, but unsuccessful, attempt had been made on the Main Barracks of the 41st M. N. I. and upon N. I. Market Place : His Excellency much regrets, that the European Police Man did not succeed in capturing any of the offenders, but desires me to express his entire approbation of the judicious steps you adopted
